Really cute, but not what I expected., September 30, 2011

Let me start by saying that I REALLY like Sophie. Probably more than my daughter does! We have both the full-size and the smaller, solid Sophie (with two rings on her) and they have been fantastic, so I was very excited to see another product available. Unfortunately, when I received this in the mail I was disappointed.

First, like the other reviewer mentioned it is much smaller than I expected. I would even go so far as to call it tiny! I am going to upload a picture of all three of our Sophies so everyone can judge for themselves…I was expecting something similar in size to the smaller (solid) one, and the body of the keychain is at least an inch smaller. Second, this Sophie is also hollow like the original (but without a squeaker), but because of the size that makes it feel very flimsy! I’ve pulled on the legs and where the metal ring attaches and it hasn’t torn, but I’m wondering if it will stand up to serious chewing and other types of abuse…it would be much better if it were solid.

Finally, there is one thing that didn’t occur to me before I bought it…am I REALLY going to hand my keys to my 6-month-old?! Probably not…I don’t consider myself a hard-core germaphobe but those things get tossed/dropped EVERYWHERE (garage floor, public bathrooms, etc). I’m laughing now wondering how I just realized this! Too excited, I guess. =)

Bottom line: it’s a small, possibly dangerous (if it tore or broke), and rather unsanitary teether. It reminds me of something that a pre-teen girl would buy at Claire’s or some other such store, and for around that’s a pretty expensive keychain.

So will I send it back? Of course not. Maybe it will help me find my keys in my diaper bag, or maybe it will make people think I’m younger than I am. Hey, I can dream, right? It’s cute, and I told you…I really like Sophie.

My baby loves Sophie. She is his favorite toy by far. I bought this as a cute novelty item for myself. I would never give it to him, as he would chew on the metal parts.

This Sophie keychain is adorable! my baby loves to play with my keys and when I added sophie to my keys she was thrilled! It is a little smaller than I expected and that is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. For the price I would have thought it was a little bit larger. Other than that We love it!
