Jake LaMotta was named after a champion fighter, but lately she’s been feeling beaten down. The newspaper where she works as a reporter won’t raise her pay. She’s got a new editor to impress. She’s having dizzy spells. Worst of all, Jake and her husb

Living in Los Angeles you can’t help but relate to the challenges faced by the hero of the story. I got really hooked about 30 pages in and ripped through the rest. Very entertaining read – I look forward to reading the next from TJ – he has a new fan.

A terrific read, December 1, 2009

I read Boon this weekend and loved it. As a homeowner who bought at a bad time and place (Long Island 2005) and a former reporter who went over to the dark side of PR, the themes resonated with me. But I also loved the protagonist, all those glimpses of Espanola and the surprise ending! I admire anyone who writes a book, but you have my respect for this one. Thanks TJ!

I’ve known TJ for some years and was happy to read his book. It’s interesting how authors rework places so that it’s fictional yet in-context. As I know the areas very well, I found myself adding the level of ‘where was he thinking of exactly’. It’s also a book definitely better appreciated as a Southern Californian who knows the territory and the culture. It would be interesting to know whether it makes as much sense – and is as much fun – for someone from another state or country. There were some awesome plot twists – especially towards the end of the book.
